Chromic Gut Absorbable Suture, Taper Point, Size 3/0, 27", CT-1 Needle is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture derived from purified connective tissue, primarily collagen, obtained from the serosal layer of beef or the submucosal fibrous layer of sheep intestines. It undergoes a chromic salt treatment process that delays absorption and extends tensile strength, making it suitable for internal soft tissue approximation where short- to mid-term support is required.

The chromic treatment enhances the suture's resistance to enzymatic digestion, thereby providing greater tensile strength retention compared to plain gut sutures. This modification allows the suture to maintain its strength for approximately 10 to 14 days before gradual resorption begins. Complete absorption generally occurs within 90 days through enzymatic degradation.

The 3/0 suture size is commonly used in delicate tissue layers such as mucosa, subcutaneous tissue, and in gynecologic or urologic procedures. The 27-inch length allows for adequate reach in various surgical fields without excess material. The undyed natural appearance may also be beneficial in procedures requiring minimal visual interference.
